Parish Council Chairman's Message
During 2007 the new housing development at Oakwood Meadow was started and is due to complete by April 2008. This has seen many new families move into the village and the Parish Council would like to welcome them all.
The names of the roads will be Sandbrook Close and an extension to the existing Manor Farm Drive. The Parish Council had an input with naming roads and Sandbrook was chosen from the names from the War Memorial in the centre of the village.
To the north of the village a smaller development at the Old Mushroom Farm has also started. The Council are in the process of consultation regarding the name to be given to this development. Names that have been forwarded from Parishioners and Councillors so far are: Knowles Way and Villa Farm Close. If you have a suggestion please let your local councillors know before the next meeting, 15th January 2008.
As a council we have been extremely lucky to be given a sum of money to provide the village with a floodlit 5-A-Side football area. This is currently under construction and is due to complete by April 2008.
Rob Scott our CSO has approached the Parish Council regarding setting up a football club for the youth in the village. We wish Rob every success with this project. If anyone would like further information please contact Rob Scott direct.
Delegates from the Council and volunteers have cleared and maintained the footpath behind Roman Way. This has proved to be a very popular walk and is becoming an established link to the Recreation Ground.
At the Fun Day in the Summer, the Parish Council had a stand giving all attendee's an opportunity to have an opinion on what they liked about the village and what could be improved. One issue was the water logged football pitch. The Parish Council are now in the process of applying for funding to drain the grassed Football Pitch.
In 2008 the Parish Council has plans to erect a Youth Shelter on the Recreation Ground, to tarmac the gravel footpath around the perimeter of the Recreation Ground and make a start on the Parish Plan
May I take this opportunity to thank all parishioners for their support during 2007 and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and peaceful New Year.
Chairman Hinstock Parish Council
